Takdir

Antara keinginan, harapan, dan takdir, hanya satu hal yang pasti yaitu takdir.

Saya suka lagu ini dari dulu.. kira-kira 2 tahunan yang lalu.. dan suka karena musiknya.. tanpa tahu lirik yang dinyanyikan, apalagi artinya.. Hingga sekarang setelah iseng-iseng cari liriknya.. kening saya dibuat berkerut juga dengan artinya,, apalagi interpretasinya.. dan saya selalu penasaran akan 'arti' atau 'pesan' yang ingin disampaikan lagu itu (baca: lagu berbahasa Inggris). Dengan mengesampingkan nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya, mau positif atau negatif, selain suka musiknya dalam arti 'ramah' di telinga saya, saya tertarik karena bisa sekalian belajar bahasa Inggris dan yang terpenting.. bisa memahami maksud lagu itu.

Saya tertarik dengan lagu ini karena... ternyata artinya sangat menyedihkan... T____T
Tentang seorang anak laki-laki yang dianggap 'berbeda' dan dikucilkan oleh penduduk lokal.. dan ketika dewasa dan kembali ke daerah itu,, dituduh membunuh seorang gadis,, entah kekasih atau siapa.. hubungannya ga jelas.. trus tiba-tiba gadis itu (Mary-red) ditemukan meninggal...Nah.. pertanyaan besarnya : siapa sebenarnya pembunuh Mary??

Seru juga ternyata, karena lagunya sendiri 'gantung' dan bisa menimbulkan berbagai interpretasi... Pembunuhnya bisa si pemuda, kekasih atau selingkuhan si gadis, sheriff yg aneh, atau siapapun bisa saja.. juga yang menarik ada sisi piskologis si pemuda yang memprihatinkan... terutama masa kecilnya.. Huaaa...menarik juga lagu sederhana ini bisa memunculkan berbagai pertanyaan.. sophisticated! Jadi gimana kesimpulannya? tidak diketahui siapa sebenarnya si pelaku, dibuat menggantung. Richard Marx sendiri menantang pendengar untuk menebak siapa sebenarnya pelaku dan tetap terkubur seperti itu.. Dasar seniman bikin orang penasaran aja, heduuh... (_ _)'
